Researchers are currently working on a nasal vaccine for COVID-19.
Recently, two studies reported that nasal vaccines have
significant potential for preventing COVID-19. Vaccines received by injection can prompt a robust immune response, but they do not necessarily do so directly in the respiratory tract, which is where the virus enters the body. Nasal vaccines
help the body create antibodies in the nose, mouth, and tonsils. The body can stop the virus from spreading by boosting the immune response at points of entry.
Nasal vaccines are still being tested and are not yet approved for use in the United States.
